A hacker has breached Romania's land registry database and wiped the entire database after a failed extortion attempt, bringing the country's real-estate market to a standstill. The agency's website and email servers were also affected, and some of the stolen data was put up for sale on a hacking forum. The hacker, known as ByteToBreach, is believed to be located in Algeria. The agency is rebuilding its network from scratch and appears to have had an offline copy of the data, which may help mitigate the damage.
