The European Commission has adopted new measures to prevent the destruction of unsold apparel, clothing, accessories, and footwear. The rules aim to reduce waste, cut environmental damage, and promote sustainable business models. Companies will be required to disclose information on unsold products they discard as waste, and a ban on destruction will apply to large companies from July 2026. The goal is to encourage companies to manage their stock more effectively and explore alternatives such as resale, remanufacturing, donations, or reuse.
