ICE is using a tool developed by Palantir that utilizes Medicaid data to identify and deport immigrants. The tool, called Enhanced Leads Identification & Targeting for Enforcement (ELITE), populates a map with potential deportation targets and provides a confidence score on the person's current address. This has raised concerns about the consolidation of government records and the potential for abuse of power. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has been warning about the dangers of this kind of data consolidation and has taken legal action to block the use of Medicaid data for immigration enforcement.
