Ghostty is now a non-profit organization, fiscally sponsored by Hack Club, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. This change allows Ghostty to operate as a charitable initiative, with Hack Club managing compliance, donations, accounting, and governance oversight. The non-profit structure provides legal protections and assurances to the people and communities that adopt and use Ghostty. Ghostty's founder, Mitchell Hashimoto, remains the project lead and largest donor, but the non-profit structure lays the groundwork for a sustainable future beyond his personal involvement.
