A technical investigation revealed a firmware bug in Asus gaming laptops that causes periodic ACPI/DPC stalls, leading to system-wide latency issues and stuttering. The issue is caused by a flawed ACPI code provided by the laptop's firmware, which can be fixed with a UEFI update. The bug affects Asus laptops since 2021 and can be identified using tools like LatencyMon and ETW tracing. The issue has been fixed by an updated ASUS UEFI that rewrites the ACPI ECLV routine.
