A modern remake of Hotline, a suite of applications that allowed users to join or host online communities directly from their Macs, is being developed for modern Apple systems. The original Hotline was released in 1997 and allowed users to chat, message, read and write news, and browse and download files. The new version aims to bring a modern Hotline client to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS using one codebase. The project also aims to document the Hotline protocol and resurrect the Hotline brand.
