WordPress.org has banned WP Engine from accessing its resources, including themes and plugins, due to a dispute over trademark infringement and contribution to the open-source project. The ban affects WP Engine customers, who can no longer install or update plugins and themes directly from the WordPress repository. The dispute began when WordPress co-creator Matt Mullenweg criticized WP Engine for profiteering from WordPress without contributing back to the community. WP Engine has responded by saying that Mullenweg's actions are an abuse of his control over WordPress.
