The UK's transport minister, Peter Hendy, got an engineer, Gareth Dennis, sacked from his job for speaking to the media about safety concerns at London's Euston station. Hendy, who was previously the chair of Network Rail, threatened to withhold public contracts from Dennis' employer if they did not take disciplinary action. The engineer had raised concerns about overcrowding at the station, which had also been highlighted by the government regulator. Dennis was eventually dismissed from his job after Hendy's complaint.
