Microsoft has donated the Mono Project to the Wine team, with the last major release of the Mono Project being in July 2019 and minor patch releases since then. The Mono Project is an open-source implementation of Microsoft's .NET Framework, and Microsoft has been progressively moving workloads to a modern fork of the Mono runtime. The WineHQ organization will take over as the stewards of the Mono Project upstream. Binaries will remain available for up to four years.
