Researchers at UNSW Sydney have developed a method to make cold brew coffee in under three minutes using acoustic cavitation, which involves using an ultrasonic reactor to speed up the brew of grounded coffee beans. This process can double the extraction yield and caffeine concentration compared to traditional cold brew methods. The researchers found that the ultrasonic process can produce a coffee comparable to 24-hour cold brew coffee in terms of taste and aroma. The technology has the potential to be used in coffee shops and homes to produce high-quality cold brew coffee quickly and efficiently.
