A 16-year-old student shares their experience of setting up and running their own servers at home, starting with a Dell OptiPlex and later upgrading to a Dell PowerEdge R720XD. They use their servers to self-host various projects, including a social media platform, game servers, and a Replit-like tool. The student learned a lot from this experience, including how to manage and maintain servers, and how to use various technologies such as Docker and Proxmox. They plan to continue learning and experimenting with their servers, but may have to find a new home for them when they go to university.
