Radical, a YC-backed startup, is developing an autonomous solar-powered aircraft designed for continuous flight in the stratosphere. The aircraft is intended to carry various payloads for tasks like imagery, sensing, and telecommunications. A 20 ft. prototype recently flew nonstop for over 24 hours, and the company plans to fly a full-scale 110 ft. wingspan aircraft in the stratosphere next year. The aircraft's design allows it to fly for up to a year without needing to land, with battery cycle life being the limiting factor.
