A recent study found psilocybin, the psychoactive compound in magic mushrooms, to be safe for human consumption in a controlled setting. The study, conducted at King's College London, involved 89 healthy volunteers who received varying doses of psilocybin or a placebo. The results showed no serious adverse effects, with most minor adverse events being related to expected psychedelic effects. The study's findings support further development of psilocybin as a potential treatment for mental health disorders, including depression.
